Can you tell me if this baby foxy is a full green ? The green form tends to perform better in full all day sun than the variegated which burns more easily especially in hot dry sun. FULL DISCLOSURE…these are not photos of my palms, nor did I take these photos.
Never noticed seed on the variegated Foxy located in another part of the collection. @96720 Taking a look at your foxy lady in the pic. - F1 hybrids tend to be more consistent, and I guess this is why what we know as a foxy lady (F1) has its signature look.
- I can come pick up that palm at your convenience, deliver you $200 cash, plus the 3 Pseudophoenix seedlings in the pic if you would be interested in selling.
- Are they the same as an F1 growth rate?
- I caught the “Palm tree bug” a few years ago when my wife and I wanted to add some planters to our yard, and I’ve been turned into a palm-tree nerd, as i call myself, ever since.

- Being in tropical Cairns, they were probably seedlings 3 yrs ago.
- Seed from a foxtail palm will only look like foxtail seeds even if something else is going in the seed.
- Most likely a resold Rancho Soledad plant or a Florida import from Sparkman.
- Alas, the time has come.
- Never observed even hints of varigation on any of the solid green specimens i have seen in both FL.

Well mine has a sparse seed set that dropped today. If this one produces seed, you should be able to tell if they have a chance.. While the largest would flower & produce seed often, most seed i’d collect were empty or basically liquid when opened.

You said, “I marked the spear the day it was delivered, and there has been zero growth.” The pool fence isn’t nearly high enough for any shade for the entire plant, and it looks like the leaves are getting full sun most of the day, probably with low humidity. Another possibility that could be of concern is, if it was pot grown and roots had exited the drain holes and anchored into the ground, they may have been severed when lifting the pot from the ground. Repeat the kelp extract/ water mix in 2 weeks.

If there are variegated foxladies, they are obvious. What I have noticed is that the width of the foxylady leaves tend to be a little wider and a little more dark hairs on the leaf bases. @here does anyone have Foxy Lady seed they would like to sell? Wanting to put them out but not if they’re not a true hybrid.
Good stuff when ever someone finds a full green or the lucky charm let me know would like a small one it’s almost like finding Waldo There is full green and mostly green. Exactly I believe even the green form has some at some point I saw a mature green form produce some variation. Did not notice the variegation earlier but as Jim pointed out, on the lower leaf there it is. Yeah I could tell it is 100% green as well. If anyone can find a pic of a small full green please post to show the difference thank you
I have little doubt that had it been spring, or this time of year, germination likely would have succeeded. If you’re up to a good challenge, Kopsick Palm – Arboretum in St. Pete has a few specimens, at least one that can / has produced seed. Lol but really I’ve only heard amazing things from this palm and I absolutely love the looks from it. The hybrid Wodyetia bifurcata x Veitchia arecina. I came across the legendary Foxy lady palm.

There are no light colored green leaves and zero variegation. That palm is 100% solid dark healthy green. David the light must be playing tricks in the photo, this palm has zero variegation. So my question would be if this palm is mostly green will it do well in full sun Full greens do not have any variegation. They can be solid green without any variegation.

I’m no geneticist, but I’ve heard F2 hybrids of anything can be hugely variable with dominant traits ranging from either parent. Also how f2 foxy gold casino compares to f1 on their cold hardiness aswell as growth rate. I have an f2 and am wondering how the look of the palm compares to f1. A guy in my area has them for sale pick up at 200 for a baby 1 gallon pot , he had 4 now he has 3 , i got one today and I am looking forward to watching it grow Regardless, good luck and hopefully you’ll be able to get a hold of this great palm sooner rather than later.. Bigger ” seeder ” at Kopsick sits close to where the collection’s Veitchia grove is located.
I have some flowering/fruiting foxtails near an adonidia doing the same. I have a couple of completely green ones in my yard and there isn’t a bit of variegation I think it’s better classifies as mostly green or mostly variegated that’s my conclusion
